I’ve lost my job. I’ve quit my job. I’ve moved across the country with a one-way plane ticket with no job, car or friends waiting. I’ve had financial highs and lows and fitness ups and downs.
Can you relate? These were all times of major transition – exiting out of one life chapter and into another. There were moments of elation as well as struggle. Through it all, I found the words of like-minded, motivated folks to be a much-needed injection of positive energy and inspiration.
Here are just 10 of my favorite quotes that helped me with my EXIT strategies and times of transition. Let me know if they help you too!
1) “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs
2) “The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude.” – Oprah Winfrey
3) “… the self is not something one finds, it is something one creates.” – Thomas Szasz
4) “I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.” – Michael Jordan
5) “It is not the question, what am I going to be when I grow up; you should ask the question, who am I going to be when I grow up.” – Goldie Hawn
6) “Imaginary obstacles are insurmountable. Real ones aren’t. But you can’t tell the difference when you have no real information. Fear can create even more imaginary obstacles than ignorance can. That’s why the smallest step away from speculations and into reality can be an absolutely amazing relief.” – Barbara Sher
7) “The path to success is to take massive, determined action.” – Tony Robbins
8) “Remember, all the answers you need are inside of you; you only have to become quiet enough to hear them.” – Debbie Ford
9) “We are often imprisoned in the cage of our own abilities and routines, which provides us with a sense of security.” – Alice Miller
10) “If we all did the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.” – Thomas Edison
